Object history note
Belonged to Grand Master of the Order Pierre d'Aubusson – the hero of the 1480 Battle at Rhodes. It was granted to Paul I in 1797 when he became a member of the Maltese Order. Later on the Emperor handed down the Cross to his eldest son - the heir to the throne Alexander Pavlovich.
