The Yamburg Glasswork was established by Prince A.D. Menshikov. First mentioned in 1710 (however, the plant existed earlier, possibly founded circa 1705). At that time, about 90 people worked there, mostly Russians. Engravers Vasily Pivovarov and Dementia Voilokova were most talented among the masters. The factory produced mirror and window glass, dishes with polishing and engraving. The products of the Yamburg Glasswork were distinguished by a slightly yellowish tint. In 1730, the plant was leased to the Englishman W. Elmsall, who ruined it and transferred it to St Petersburg on the river Fontanka. The plant lasted until 1735.
