Ovchinnikov Pavel Akimovich (1820–1888) - master silversmith, Moscow merchant of the 1st Guild, founder of the gold and silver jewelry factory and firm "P.A. Ovchinnikov" in Moscow.
A bondman of Prince Volkonsky, being a teenager he was sent to study in Moscow at the gold and silver workshop owned by his brother A. A. Ovchinnikov. Being an excellent student, Ovchinnikov received manumission. Having married in 1850, he opened a workshop in Moscow in 1851, which had grown into a factory of gold and silver products by 1853. Since 1865, the firm has been a regular participant in All-Russian and world exhibitions. In 1865, the firm became the supplier of the Imperial Court (the title was confirmed in 1881 and 1896). New branch was opened in St. Petersburg in 1873. In 1878, he became the official supplier of the Court of the Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich. In 1875, the jewelry school was set up at the company for 130 gifted children, to train gold and silver silversmiths. Masters of the Ovchinnikov firm were among the first to make things using sophisticated vitreous enamel (Plique-à-jour). The heyday of the company falls on the 1870-1880s. After the death of P. A. Ovchinnikov in 1888, the company inherited by his sons. The company existed until 1917.
