An outstanding Yaroslavl icon painter, worked for more than 45 years in the Kremlin Armory. He was mentioned in documents from 1626 to 1676. In 1640 he took part in the painting of the Church of St. Nicholas Nadein in Yaroslavl. Repeatedly worked in Moscow: in 1642–1643 he painted mural in the Assumption Cathedral; created painting at the wall in the Archangel Cathedral in 1652 and 1657. Together with other Yaroslavl icon painters, he participated in wall paintings in the Assumption Cathedral of Rostov in 1659. In 1665 he was in the Golden Chamber at the letter of “the sovereign's banner and at the table”, and in 1666 he painted murals in the Cathedral of the Archangel. It is known that in the 1660s – 1670 he painted icons accordint to the royal orders.
